This weekend was the first Tampa Tanners spanking party, and a lot went into getting it set up and going. There was a fair share of hurdles that we had to jump, but we managed to pull everything together to have a good time. I think that we learned a few things along the way, too, that I hope we'll carry with us to future parties. This was the first party that Cookie and Katia put together, so I know that it's going to be a learning experience for them.
Cookie and Katia spent most of Friday in the kitchen, putting together the treats for the party. They had a lot of sweets and candies that they wanted to make for the event. Here's a tasty sampling of the shamrock treats that they put together for the party.
My favorite, though, was the candy lollipops that were shaped like butts. They found some candy molds, probably from online that they used to make while chocolate pops. On each “cheek,” though, they put red candy coloring to make it look like spanked bottoms. It actually ended up being very stark in contrast, so it looked more like caned bottoms than spanked bottoms, but you get the idea. I've left a few girls looking like this, I think.
On Saturday, we had the meet and greet, which is the second that Tampa Tanners has held. It was a bit on the disappointing side. For starters, we weren't able to get the meeting room at the restaurant that we arranged to hold it at. It had already been set aside by a chess club, and we only went in the hopes that the club would cancel off. However, they didn't, so we holed up in a semi-private corner of the restaurant, instead. Next month, we'll be moving to a new location for the meet and greet, one which is already commonly used by the local kink community for munches and meetings, so it should be a nice fit.
There was, apparently, a lot of events competing with us this past weekend, so we hardly had any turnout for the meet and greet. We probably had half of the turnout as last month's meet, though I don't remember last month's numbers to verify that. We only had five attendees, though, not counting the group's leadership. Now that I'm thinking about it, we had at least eleven people show up last month, so I was right about it being half of what we had before. Hopefully, the numbers will pick up next month. Cookie and I even took brief naps in the restaurant booths to catch up on all of the sleep that we haven't been getting while we've been preparing for the party.
After the meet, everyone went to the hotel that we were having the party at. The party wasn't until Sunday, but Todd and Suzy were spending the night, and Cookie and Katia wanted to make sure that the hotel didn't screw up the party reservations. Once again, though, both sets of reservations were messed up, and it seemed to be a continuous stream of hassles. It was determined rather quickly that we'll be moving future events to another hotel. This one has brought far too many problems, and we want to make things easier, not harder.
So, in order to unwind and prepare ourselves for the upcoming party, the eight of us went up to Todd and Suzy's room for some spanking playtime. This was pretty much a little party in itself, as we tested out a few new implements, played some Spankopoly, and generally got ourselves in the mood for the next day. We couldn't stay all night, though, as Cookie had to work the night shift, again. Still, it was late when we finally headed out, and we still had to prepare the party suite when we got up in the morning.
