Big February Party Is Cancelled

Unfortunately, due to circumstances that are largely beyond our control, the Tampa Tanners have opted to switch gears for our upcoming second anniversary party in February. In lieu of a grand three-day event, we have decided to instead downsize to a simple party on Saturday night. This means that we'll be giving up several of the amenities that would have come with the larger party, including meals and vendor faire, as well as the larger playspaces.

Essentially, there are two main reasons for this. The first one is that Cookie has been having increasing problems with her recurring asthma, and we're coming up to the time of year when it tends to affect her the worse. Rather than risk putting together a large event and then be sidelined due to illness, we came to the conclusion that we have ample reason to switch to a smaller party. Not only would she be better able to attend a smaller party, even if she's feeling under the weather, but the increased stress of a large party would increase her likelihood of experiencing health issues as the date approaches.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, there really hasn't been an awe-inspiring show of support for the larger party that we were planning. While many people have suggested that they would really like to attend, we have not yet received even a single registration for the event. In fact, the only individuals who have truly expressed that they definitely would have liked to come were vendors. Without general attendees, though, arranging a sizable vendor faire would be counterproductive.

We will still be celebrating our anniversary that month, and we will keep the “Magical Moments” theme, but we'll stick to just a single night of revelry for the time being. We can set our goals higher when Cookie is in consistently good health, and when our regular party numbers suggest that a larger party would be likely to succeed.
